How can i have a cheap but beautiful wedding.?

Me and my fiance ae trying to get married in november. We arenot rich and need to find a cheap way to have a wedding but be beautiful at the same time. We want to have it by or on the beach. And don't want to spend thousands of dollars. I know its customary for the bride to buy the bridesmaid dresses and all those other spectacular things but we simply don't have it made like that. Is it wrong that I told my bridesmaids they have to buy their own dresses? And is it wrong that I told them I want them to dye their hair a regular color if there hair is an outrageous color? Everyone is trying to tell me to just get married at the courthouse or in vegas because its cheap. But I promised myself I won't settle for that and refuse to compromise. Am I being selfish?
