Do United-Statesians know about the 14th colony?

Don't take it personally. It was the Bank of England and the State Church more than the Royal Family that made British rule intolerable for American colonials. Besides, Canada too became self governing in 1867. They just negotiated their independence while retaining ties to the British crown.
