In school, is getting screamed at by the teacher as bad as corporal punishment?

I feel I have been scarred by a teacher who screamed at me for something minor. Should screaming/shouting/yelling at pupils not be banned in the same way as corporal punishment was, in schools. It can scar a person's mind for life, can it not?
